Silent Hill f

In its latest update, the South Korean ratings board – the Game Rating and Administration Committee – has rated Silent Hill f. While no real details about the game have been revealed, the inclusion of Silent Hill f in the list indicates that the game might be nearing the end of primary development and is prepping for release.

Interestingly, a host of dates next to the Silent Hill f listing also indicate that the game was submitted for a rating back in December. The rating itself indicates that the upcoming horror game will not be suitable for minors.

Konami itself has been quiet about Silent Hill f, however, back in December, the company did talk about being more open with information about the upcoming horror game. In an interview, series producer Motoi Okamoto spoke about the success of the Silent Hill 2 remake, as well as the development of titles like Silent Hill f, and Silent Hill: Townfall.

The company has been generally quite cagey about revealing details about Silent Hill f, however, stating that more information about the game will be revealed “when the time comes“.

Silent Hill f is currently under development with studio NeoBards Entertainment, and doesn’t yet have a release date. We can assume that the title will be coming to PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In the mean time, Konami is also working on another Silent Hill title, dubbed Townfall, with developer No Code. While not too many details about Silent Hill: Townfall have been revealed either, rumours in the past have indicated that it will be a part of a planned anthology series, with other indie developers also getting a shot at their own take on the Silent Hill franchise.

Silent Hill f was announced all the way back in 2022, and is part of a greater trend by Konami to revive its beloved older franchises and re-enter the core gaming market. The game was announced during the Silent Hill Transmission, where other titles like the Silent Hill 2 remake, Silent Hill: Ascension and Silent Hill: Townfall were also announced.

Little is known about Silent Hill f outside of its announcement trailer, which shows a young girl having a fungal infection taking over her body, ultimately having her face falling off her head and revealing her insides. The trailer showed off a flower-based motif, and offered up images that were evocative.

The story for Silent Hill f is being written by Ryukishi07, who is famous for some of the horror motifs of classic murder mystery visual novel Higurashi When They Cry. Creature and character design on the game is being handled by artist kera.

The most recent major release in the Silent Hill franchise was the remake of Silent Hill 2, which was handled by horror game veteran studio Bloober Team. Since its release back in October 2024, Silent Hill 2 saw immense success, and managed to sell more than a million copies in its first week. Our own review of Silent Hill 2 (which you can check out here) gave the title a perfect score of 10 out of 10, and the game even went on to become our Game of the Year.

In the mean time, Bloober Team has reportedly started work on its next project. The studio has, however, indicated that it would be open to another Silent Hill project.
