Microsoft has dabbled a few times over recent years with bringing some of its relatively smaller-scale first party titles to competitor platforms, and it seems like the company has more of that planned for the future. Recent rumours have claimed that a Nintendo Switch port of Hi-Fi Rush is in the works, and according to Windows Central’s Jez Corden, there’s a chance it won’t be the only Xbox exclusive to go multiplatform.

In a recently published article, Corden has claimed that according to what he has heard from “trusted, proven” sources, Microsoft is “exploring bringing some of its back catalog to other platforms”, though he says the finer details are “vague and unconfirmed”.

Of course, what exactly “back catalog” is referring to here is a pertinent question- for instance, Hi-Fi Rush, being only a year old, might not exactly qualify as a “back catalog” game according to many. Could this perhaps mean that older titles from the Xbox, Xbox 360, and Xbox One libraries could be ported to Nintendo and PlayStation platforms?

From the Ori titles to Quake 2 Remastered to others, Microsoft has certainly shown much more of a willingness to release its games as multiplatform titles in recent years, so this doesn’t seem to be outside the realm of possibility. Whether it leads to any concrete, solid plans remains to be seen, however. Stay tuned for more updates.
