Bungie’s next season of content for Destiny 2, provided to owners of the Annual Pass, will begin in June. Season of Opulence promises a new raid, Crown of Sorrow, and the opportunity to be locked out of other raids until it’s complete (seriously). That’s not all though – it will also see numerous weapons “adjusted” to ensure a challenging endgame.

In the latest weekly update, the developer stated, “We want to ensure that encounters—raids and other endgame content, for example—remain a challenge. Some of these weapons have been overwhelming that challenge. Our first choice is to buff underused weapons, but if we continue to push every weapon up higher and higher, it will be impossible to maintain challenging experiences. This is not a full list of changes, but some of the most impactful.”

So what’s changing? First, Whisper of the Worm – an Exotic earned by completing a difficult PvE mission – will now pull ammo from reserves via the White Nail perk. This is opposed to generating ammo freely every time you hit three critical shots in a row. Reserve ammo is being increased to 18 to compensate.

Sleeper Simulant will have “modified precision behavior” to ensure that non-precision shots are “significantly more forgiving”. Bounce/ricochet damage on bosses is being reduced though. Ace of Spades will see its perk Memento Mori go away if the weapon is stowed, and the PvP damage bonus provided is reduced. This is to prevent potentially two-tapping other players while the One-Eyed Mask’s Vengeance perk is active.

Exotic armour like Skull of Dire Ahamkara, Orpheus Rigs, and Phoenix Protocol are also being adjusted in terms of the Super energy they provide back. Expect diminishing returns over time, essentially. Shards of Galanor and Ursa Furiosa will also have their Super gain caps reduced.

It’s well worth going through the full list of changes – which players are not happy with – for yourself. Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence begins on June 4th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
