Destiny 2 (11)

There were a lot of changes that fans of the original Destiny game did not like in its sequel, and one of these was to do with the game’s use of shaders. Now Bungie has revealed just how many shaders have been deleted in the second game up until now.

Shaders are basically used to color gear in the games, and in the first game, a shader could be used infinitely once you’ve found it. In the second game however, shaders became consumable items, and a single shader could only be used once on a particular piece of gear. This meant that players have had to keep deleting shaders that they weren’t going to use. The total number of shaders that players have collectively deleted from the game are 807,635,124. Annoyingly enough, each of these shaders have to be deleted one by one in the game. One reddit user calculated just how long the players have collectively spent on deleting shaders from the game based on the approximation that it takes a second to delete a single shader. Apparently, the community has collectively spent 25.6 years on just deleting shaders!

Bungie will soon be addressing this issue as they will implement an option to mass delete shaders on August 28. The update we all deserve and need.
