The latest issue of gaming magazine Edge has released a bunch of new information on the upcoming Destiny 2, and there’s a lot of interesting stuff here. In addition to info about the content on offer, Bungie have also detailed quite a lot of updates and improvements that have been made to the game’s mechanic over the original Destiny 2.

The most notable piece of information, of course, is that Destiny 2 will have over eighty PvE missions and side missions for players to tackle. The game, apparently, is chock-full of content, so much so that Bungie even claim that at one point in the development, there was more content in Destiny 2 than there was progression, something that has been fixed now.

Additional information on Nightfall is also given, and the big change this time around is that Nightfall missions will now be time bound, so players will no longer be able to cheese their way through them, and will have to come up with appropriate skill and strategy to beat them.

Certain activities in Destiny 2 will have locked weapon loadouts as well, the article in Edge states, meaning that once the mission begins, players will not be able to change their weapons or their sub-class until after they are done with the mission. This, quite a lot like the time limits on Nightfall, seem to suggest that Destiny 2 is leaning more towards actual skill and preparation on part of the players, and that’s nothing but encouraging.

Additionally, Destiny 2 will also feature a mechanic that will cause enemy units’ energy shields to explode. You will be able to use energy weapons to deplete the shields’ energy, and when they’ve been depleted, they will explode, dealing damage to everyone in its blast radius. The feature was not included in the game’s beta, but Bungie have confirmed that it will indeed be included in the final game itself.

Destiny 2 launches in September for the PS4, Xbox One and PC. Not long to go now. Until then, stay tuned to GamingBolt for continued updates and coverage on the game.

Thanks, The Wolf Hall!
