In its most recent weekly update blog, Bungie revealed a few changes that would be coming to Destiny 2’s sandbox. Those looking to grind the Crucible’s Competitive playlist for weapons like Not Forgotten can take heed. On January 15th at 10 AM PST, matchmaking settings for the playlist will be undergoing some changes.

Going forward, players will find opponents ranked closer to their own Glory rank. “Glory” is a separate stat used to measure one’s rank in the Competitive playlist. However, till now, it didn’t really play any part in matching players of equal skill. That’s thankfully changing tomorrow.

Bungie notes, “While the imbalanced match can still happen, we believe this change will reduce the number of occurrences dramatically. Players may experience longer matchmaking times as we will try to ensure a good Glory rank match before opening up the search criteria. Thank you so much for your feedback, and please keep it coming. We’re always improving the game and your feedback helps steer the conversation.”

Whether this will result in more players trying out Competitive remains to be seen. Will solo players still get matched against full fireteams? And how will Bungie address issues like players losing Glory when one of their teammates backs out at the beginning? Stay tuned for more details in the coming weeks.
